Ingredients
Saffron apple:
6 Apples – cored and sliced
A pinch (6-7 strands) of Argyle Australian Saffron
½ Cup of warm water
¼ cup of sugar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Crumble
1 cup of mixed flake/fruit cereal
1 cup rolled oats
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
50gms melted butter
Tablespoon of golden syrup
Method
1. If you’ve planned ahead, place your saffron strands in the warm water to infuse and release maximum colour, aroma and taste
2. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees
celcius
3. Place apples into a saucepan, with the saffron water, cinnamon and sugar
4. Allow to simmer for around 25mins, stirring regularly to ensure even cooking
5. In the meantime, add all dry crumble ingredients to a bowl and combine
6. Combine golden syrup with the butter, then add to the dry ingredients and stir well
7. Once apple mix is nice and soft to a fork, place into ramekins (if you’d like individual crumbles) or one pie dish
8. Add crumble to the top and place in oven to cook for 25 minutes
9. Serve with Vanilla bean ice cream
